About Us

Owner Jennifer Allan and her partner, veterinarian Tim Keller, had long recognized the need in the Kingston area for a distinctive retail pet foods and accessories store. Combining Tim’s knowledge of animal health and nutrition with Jennifer’s keen aesthetic principles (and love of shopping for the unique!), the concept of a store unlike any other in Kingston culminated in the opening of Urban Paws Pet Foods & Accessories in May of 2005.

Owned by Teak and Scout, the lovable and boisterous standard poodles (who are often the Urban Paws “official greeters”); Newton, the striking blue-eyed white and flamepoint long-haired cat; and Towser, the feisty long-haired tabby; Jennifer and Tim (who are also parents to four human children) love the company of their pets.

From luxurious beds, stylish and customizable collars and leashes, apparel for the style-conscious pet, and bowls and dishes to match any décor there is something to appeal to everyone.

Dr. Keller researched the many pet foods available and chose those that provide optimal nutrition for your dog or cat. All our selected foods are manufactured by companies with a long-standing commitment to quality. Our staff is trained to help you choose the food that best meets the individual needs of your pet.

Urban Paws is located in Cataraqui Pet Centre, which also houses Cataraqui Pet Hospital, and Cataraqui Pet Grooming. This one-stop-shopping facility for your pet is the only one of its kind in Ontario.

They were selected on the basis of their knowledge, friendliness and approachability and come from backgrounds that include Veterinary Technology and Animal Care Techniques.
